LIAN Terms & Conditions

Last Updated: April 17, 2026

1. Agreement to Terms

These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) constitute a legally binding agreement between you (“Customer,” “you,” or “your”) and LIAN (“LIAN,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) governing your purchase and use of our storytelling and book creation services (the “Services”).

By purchasing or using the Services, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

2. Description of Services

LIAN provides a guided storytelling experience that enables families to capture personal stories and transform them into a bilingual keepsake book.

The Services may include:

  • 25 Story prompts delivered over time

  • Voice recording submissions

  • Optional photo uploads

  • Transcription and translation

  • Editing and formatting

  • One (1) digital proof

  • One (1) printed keepsake book

Stories may be submitted in Mandarin and will be translated into English. While we aim for accuracy and natural flow, translations are not guaranteed to be word-for-word and may not preserve all nuances. LIAN may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Services at any time without liability.

3. Roles

Customer (Buyer)
The individual who purchases the Services and initiates the storytelling experience.

Storyteller (Participant)
The individual invited to share stories, recordings, and images.

The Customer and Storyteller may be the same person or different individuals.

4. Customer Responsibilities

The Customer agrees to:

  • Provide accurate and complete information

  • Invite the storyteller to participate

  • Review and approve the digital proof

  • Provide timely responses when required

The Customer acknowledges that completion of the final product depends on the storyteller’s participation and level of engagement. LIAN does not guarantee storyteller participation, completion, or submission of sufficient content.

5. Storyteller Participation and Content Submission

Participation by the storyteller is voluntary. The storyteller may choose whether or not to participate after receiving an invitation. Content, including voice recordings, written responses, and images, is submitted directly by the storyteller.
LIAN reserves the right to limit or remove excessive, inappropriate, or technically unsuitable uploads.

The depth and richness of the final book depend on the quantity and detail of submitted content. LIAN is not responsible for ensuring participation or completion.

6. Content Ownership and Rights

Ownership
All content submitted (“User Content”) is owned by the individual who provides it.

License to LIAN
By submitting content, the storyteller grants LIAN a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to:

  • process, transcribe, translate, edit, and format content

  • produce the keepsake book

  • deliver the Services

This license is limited to fulfilling the Services.

Customer Acknowledgement
If the Services are purchased on behalf of another individual (the “Storyteller”), the Customer acknowledges that:

  • the storyteller will be invited to submit content directly

  • the storyteller is responsible for consenting to the submission and processing of their content

  • LIAN is not responsible if the storyteller declines to participate

User Representations
You confirm that you have the rights to submit all content.

LIAN does not verify the accuracy, authorship, or permissions of submitted content.

Promotional Use
LIAN may request permission to use anonymized excerpts for promotional purposes. This will only occur with explicit consent.

7. Acceptable Use

Users agree not to:

  • submit unlawful, harmful, defamatory, or offensive content

  • upload content without proper rights or consent

  • misuse or interfere with the Services

LIAN may remove content or restrict access at its discretion.

8. Editing and Preparation

LIAN provides limited editing to improve clarity and readability while preserving the storyteller’s voice.

LIAN does not provide:

  • full ghostwriting

  • extensive rewriting

  • unlimited revisions

LIAN may adjust images for layout and formatting purposes but does not provide photo editing, enhancement, restoration, or correction services. Image quality in the final book depends on the quality of the original files submitted.

All editorial decisions are at LIAN’s discretion.

9. Proofing and Revisions

One (1) digital proof will be provided prior to printing.

Minor edits may be requested, including:

  • spelling corrections

  • factual corrections

  • small wording adjustments

LIAN does not guarantee multiple revision rounds or major content changes.

10. Book Production and Specifications

Each LIAN package includes one (1) bilingual keepsake book of up to 150 pages.

If the final content exceeds this length, additional page charges may apply. Any such charges will be communicated for approval before printing.

Additional copies may be purchased separately.

Final design, formatting, and layout decisions are at LIAN’s sole discretion.
Book specifications, including size, materials, and page count, may vary depending on content and production requirements.

Production and Printing Variations
Final printed books may vary slightly in color, paper, and print quality due to production processes. Such variations are not considered defects.

11. Additional Fees and Scope Changes

The Services include a defined scope as described at the time of purchase.

Additional fees may apply in cases including, but not limited to:

  • exceeding the included page limit

  • extended storytelling duration beyond the active period

  • special handling or non-standard production requests

Any additional fees will be communicated for approval before being applied.

12. Timeline and Duration

The LIAN storytelling experience is designed to span approximately six (6) months, though timing may vary depending on participation and pace. Pacing may be adjusted by request. The storytelling experience remains active for up to 12 months from the date of purchase.

If the process is not completed within this active period, LIAN may require an additional fee to continue or complete the project.

If the storytelling process remains inactive for an extended period, LIAN reserves the right to pause, archive, or close the project. Resuming may require an additional fee.
